Critical Neighborhoods
Critical Neighborhoods
The Critical Neighborhoods workshop aims to challenge the conventional relationships between the practice of architecture and the socio-territorial questions surrounding it.
Critical Neighborhoods will present a set of proposals to regenerate a precarious territory (Bairro de Leal, in Porto), revealing architecture’s ability to improve the city and the living conditions of its inhabitants.
The workshop includes: socio-territorial analysis sessions, design and construction of utilitarian objects for the temporary appropriation of the space, under the tutelage of Paulo Moreira and Tiago Antero; guided visits to the study site with Sérgio Fernandez and The Worst Tours; sessions with guest critics Maria Trabulo and João Gomes; conferences by architects with the professional and pedagogical experience of Alberto Pottenghi, Elisa Silva and Filipe Balestra.
The work will take place between the INSTITUTO facilities and Bairro do Leal. The work process will be exhibited and discussed between the participants and a group of guests.
